Ground Purchase

At an Extra Ordinary General Meeting held on the 30th April 2008, the members unanimously voted to accept the proposal put before the club by our landlords, Marshalls PLC, to purchase our ground and an adjacent piece of land.

These are exciting times for everybody involved, also expensive, but the feeling is we cannot let this opportunity pass. The Club is accepting all donations and will be having a number of fund raising events to achieve our aims.

This is our chance to put down our footprint for the future.

Team news

Southowram CC have several new signing for the 2008 season. All-rounder Zubair Raje joins us from Cleckheaton having previously played several seasons for Brighouse. Opening batsman Mick Stephenson joins from Idle. Three new bowlers have joined the club - Richard Tesseyman from Lightcliffe, Barry Veasey from Clayton West and Zimbabwe-born Jason Kinsey.

2008 also sees the return of two club stalwarts, Michael Wild, who returns from a year’s sabbatical, and Fiaz Haider, who was unable to play for much of last season through work commitments.

Unfortunately last year's first and second team captains, Scott Moody and Mushtaq Mohammed, have both gone to Greetland. The club wishes them both luck for the forthcoming season.

2008 Captains Selected

Due to popular demand from players the the captains for next season have been selected much earlier than usual. This will allow next year's captains to plan their strategy and attract new players while cricket is still fresh in their minds. The captains are:

1st Eleven - Ian Uttley
2nd Eleven - Ian Gledhill
3rd Eleven - Martin Reppion

Congratulations to the new captains and the best of luck for next year.
