Future Planning
Southowram Cricket Club is actively working towards the ECB Clubmark status with a view to achieving this early in the 2011 season. We believe that Clubmark status will demonstrate the club's commitment to cricket development within the area.
The club has a long term plan in place to improve the playing surface by vertidraining the ground and then spreading sand over the outfield in the off season for the next 5 - 10 years. This work is intended to improve the structure of the soil leading to better draining of the outfield.
We have recently completed the extension to the clubhouse. The extension includes improved storage for the bar area, an umpire's changing room and a new and improved kitchen area. As a result of the new kitchen, Calderdale Environmental Health has awarded us 4 stars for food hygiene.
All this, along with proposed new sight screens, extended patio area to the front of the Club and the ever improving facilities shows that we are a truly progressive and ambitious Club.
